4 Places That Require Lots of Walking

  • Mandalay Bay Shark Reef - You may have already discovered that the Mandalay Bay complex is HUGE. One night my wife and I trekked to the Shark Reef aquarium and almost wished we hadn’t. The aquarium itself is one of the best you might have never heard of. However, even if they had a 25-ft Great White shark in there with a human leg hanging out of it’s mouth, you might only say, “that’s nice…now can we get a taxi back to the entrance?” It’s a LONG way in (and then back out). Not recommended for old people, slow walkers, or anyone with a limp.
  • MGM Grand Casino - Hey, I love the MGM, especially the sports book. But that casino is freakishly big and spread out. I once walked through there one afternoon and thought I was caught up in a Twilight Zone episode. I honestly thought I would never get to the end. At one point, I felt like one of those little lost kids in a department store. “Momma!!!!!”
  • Desert Passages - As part of the former Aladdin Hotel, the Desert Passages shopping complex is now part of Planet Hollywood and is now called the Miracle Mile Shops. Lots and lots of shopping, but if you walk the entire length, it’s kind of a Bataan Death March…with air conditioning.
  • Forum Shops - I must say up front that I love everything that is part of Caesars Palace. After checking into the Mirage one night, I headed over to Forum Shops for some workout shoes that I had left at home. Of course, I got held up twice by those damn animated statues and the crowds of Vegas first-timers that film the entire sequence. Take that animatronic sideshow away, and Forum Shops would be a great shopping area.
