Description: Here are some of the things I always make sure I have while in Vegas.
- Water - Water in large quantities is hard to come by anywhere in town unless you make a side trip to a grocery store. It’s important to keep yourself hydrated, especially over the summer months.
- Comfortable Shoes - Even if your plans have you staying within the confines of your hotel, expect a lot of walking and bring comfortable shoes!
- Nice Clothes - With so many restaurants and nightclubs enforcing dress codes, you don’t want something as insignificant as what you’re wearing keeping you from enjoying all that the city has to offer. I’m always dressed well in the evenings because it’s more fun to gamble in a suit and you never know where the night will take you. Be prepared!
- Vitamins and Pain Medications - Vitamins help prevent and speed recovery of hangovers. Pain medications such as ibuprofen (Advil) will help you deal with them. Be careful when using acetaminophen (Tylenol) as it does not mix well with alcohol.
- Lip Balm - The dry, desert climate can make your lips severely chapped. Bring lip balm and use it often!
- Separate Bankroll - The first step to managing your money wisely is to set aside a certain amount alotted specifically for gambling. Make sure to clearly separate this from the rest of your vacation budget—you could wind up unintentionally gambling away much-needed dough.
- $50 In Singles - The $50 figure is based on a two night stay so adjust accordingly; you may or may not wind up spending it all, but from the moment you arrive to your hotel, the tipping begins. Valets, cabs, bellhops, bathroom attendants, housekeeping… these are only a few of the people you’ll come across deserving of a tip. Make sure you also have a few fives, tens, and twenties available for larger tips like limo drivers or the check-in clerk (if they go out of their way to get you the room/upgrade you want).
- Player's Club/Comp Cards - If it’s your first visit to Las Vegas, by all means get a free player’s club card and use it everytime you play. You’d be surprised what some casinos might offer you.

Don’t forget the suntan lotion and a hat if you plan to spend any time pool-side. Nothing more annoying than having to pay $10 at the cabana store for a $2 tube of suntan lotion.
