Worse Vegas Smells

List Author: Hunter
Description: Despite raking in billions from tourists each year, there are some parts of town that always smell terrible, no matter what they do.
  • Caesars - Flamingo and the Strip - Right outside Caesars, where the elevator for the overhead bridge is to Flamingo, was a zone that ALWAYS smelled terrible. Always. It’s not as bad now but you can still get a whiff.
  • Any Downtown Alley - Leave Fremont St. for even a few feet and you are treated to some truly interesting nasal experiences.
  • The Plaza - Not sure what happened in here but for a casino to smell so strange is a bad sign.
  • Imperial Palace - Not as bad as it used to be but the casino floor has always been a bit ‘off’.
  • In Front of Luxor - Right on the sidewalk in front of the sphinx, we have another Caesars like scenario. Nasty.
  • Rivera Back Entrance - Submitted by a fellow user Debra, here’s what she said:

NOT the fancy-shmantzy ones just outside the parking garage but… the single door leading to the barber and wedding chapel. This door cuts down on the 1/2 mile hike to elevator nervana. The grate to some underground system is just outside this door. The odor is very close to that of rotting food.

The scent of a smoking room in any lower tier hotel after it has just been cleaned with cheap cleaning products.

I always like the first moment when I walk into the Monte Carlo. It smells like a really great car deodorizer and very unique.

O’Sheas was really bad until about 3 months ago when they cleaned up the place. It’s “ok” now. MGM has a crazy odd smell when you hit the main lobby, kind of nice, but a little off.

Right outside the Aladin, as your walking down the step outside their shops, stepping onto the strip, it has always smelled like sewer!

Quite some time ago, one morning we visited most of the hotels/casinos on the strip. 2 places really stood out as having an absolutely horrible oder, so bad we left immediately and never returned: The Stratosphere and The Imperial Palace. These places were also dirty.

I live and work in New York City, I bet all of those places smell like a rose garden compared to the NYC subway stations.
