Description: In a town that changes as much as Vegas, places come and go very quickly. I've only been visiting for 8 years so my list is short. You guys must have more - share them in the comments.

- Jack's Velvet Lounge - This place was upstairs at The Venetian. You’d head into the ‘WB Stage 16’ restaurant and then head up a small staircase to Jack’s. There was never anyone up there, probably why they closed. It was fantastic for that exact reason… Bummer. Now it’s part of Tao.
- Bacchanal at Caesars - Mmmmmmmm. Excess defined.
- Stefano's at the Nugget - Recently closed (or closing this week), this Italian restaurant meant great food and service with a little bit of extra singing.
- The Sands - Yes, it was before my time but how could you not miss the Copa Room?
- Steve Wynn at Mirage Resorts - Okay, it’s not a hotel but since Wynn left Bellagio, The Mirage and TI haven’t been the same… At least he’s still down the street.
- Binion's Horseshoe - Okay, so ‘Binion’s’ still exists but no one in their right mind will say it’s the same place.
I’ll never forget hanging out with my friends playing craps at the Horseshoe. Oh well.
- Baccarat Bar at The Mirage - Now just a worthless bank of slot machines, the Baccarat Bar at The Mirage was a central location in the middle of the casino. A good view of the action and a great place to get a drink. Supposedly it will be replaced with a lounge. We shall see.
- North Parking Garage at Bellagio - It used to be the best place to park but post 9/11, MGM MIRAGE closed the North Garage due to terrorist concerns that someone would take a bomb down there. Located right off the porte cochere on Flamingo, the escalators would drop you off right next to Picasso. Too bad. Damn terrorists.
- Fish Hoagie at the Caribe Cafe - The Caribe Cafe at The Mirage is my favorite 24-hour coffee shop type place in Las Vegas. A couple of years back it was completely re-done and not only was the interior replaced, the menu was re-done as well. Unfortunately, my favorite 3am snack is gone, the fish hoagie. This was a fillet-o-fish type sandwich and it was GREAT. No more… Fortunately for me, the prime rib sandwich is tops so I have a new go-to at the Caribe,
- The Pirates at Treasure Island - I can understand wanting to forget about families and go after younger people. Fine.
Still, what MGM MIRAGE did at TI was extreme. Not only did the pirates get canned, all of the cool carved wood, chandeliers, and interesting detail has been removed.
TI used to be a cool and fun place to stay. The new theme actually makes me cringe with embarrassment sometimes (Siren show dialog).

The Desert Inn – Stayed there two weeks before they closed their doors for good. The epitome of class. - over 2 years ago by Hunter
Good one. I never stayed there but walked through many times, the last one just before it got blowed up. - over 2 years ago by sox
Definitely the Desert Inn. They were ahead of their time for understated feel. The casino was attractive, quiet, and flowed very well. People were betting big here also. Additionally, they had the coolest little sportsbook. Comfortable leather chairs, great drinks, very knowledgeable and helpful staff. - over 2 years ago by Coorslte
The old Dunes….not a great place but for some reason I always had match play chips and coupons from there. The MGM movie theatre in the old MGM Grand (now Bally’s). Showed classic old MGM movies – free admission for guests of the hotel.

The original Circus Circus buffet. Before it got gutted and renovated in 1997. The food was better, and it didn’t have that “we’re trying to look upscale but we’re failing at it miserably!” feel. And, the Hacienda.
