Best MGM MIRAGE Properties

List Author: Hunter
Description: Owning every property from Mandalay Bay to Treasure Island (minus Caesars and plus the MGM Grand) is a tough gig but someone's gotta do it - MGM MIRAGE.
  • Bellagio - The crown jewel of the Mirage Resorts empire – Bellagio is a beautiful hotel. Not much else to say about this joint.
  • The Mirage - The hotel that started a mega-boom, The Mirage is getting a bit of a facelift with new restaurants, a nightclub and more. Guess what – it looks great. The Mirage is better than ever in 2006.
  • THEHotel at Mandalay Bay - THEHotel is head and shoulders above the standard Mandalay Bay offering. The rooms are quite cool looking and spacious. If you have the choice, stay in THEHotel.
  • Treasure Island - A tie with MGM Grand for the next spot on the list, TI used to be a better spot in my opinion. Still, even with the changes it’s still a good option and most of the time the prices are reasonable.
  • MGM Grand - It opened as a family resort with over 5,000 rooms. Since then, various renovation projects have turned it into a hotel that serves both the mid and high end markets (including the very high end Mansion). One great thing about the changes – a bunch of new restaurants with fantastic food.
  • New York New York - From the outside it’s a neat version of the Big Apple. On the inside, the casino itself can be fun with a good vibe. I’m not a huge fan of the rooms themselves, as they are a bit small.
  • Monte Carlo - The most ‘blah’ place on the Strip has a few things going for it. It’s got a great location that will get even better when CityCenter comes online. The pool at Monte Carlo was training for the guys before they built Mandalay Bay and thus you have small versions of the features that got built at MB. Lastly, the prices are usually very reasonable for the Strip.
  • Luxor - In my opinion, Luxor is the Strip hotel most needing a renovation. The rooms are really starting to show their age and the casino staff attitudes need an upgrade as well.
  • Circus Circus - I hate clowns!
  • Excalibur - I hate knights!

Uh, where does the MB proper (not theHotel) fit in that scheme?

I don’t like the MGM Grand a lot- the time I stayed there I felt like hiring a Sherpa every time I had to go from my room to somewhere, or up to my room. The gambling was “eh”. I did get a nice package with drinks and food, though, and the pool was OK.

Yeah, it should be on the list – my oversight. I would stick it between TI and MGM Grand probably.

Yes TI, I have stayed there twice. I thought the overall service there was great the first time I went back a second time! I noticed even the managers on duty in their restruants overlook everything to make sure you are being served as best as ever possible. I remember I ate in the TI cafe and the waitress forgot to refill my drink and the manager noticed and came right over and made sure I got a refill that second. Ate at Dishes and the manager on duty came up to us and asked us how everything was. Wow. Check in is super efficient and I was always impressed. With a full line at 3pm I checked in both times in less than 10 minutes. They always have a full staff at check in during the day and they also have people that are incharge of line control! I thought I was in Disney World or something! The only thing now is that prices have went up on the rooms there this year. I hate price increases!
