Worst Stuff About The Venetian
Description: I have issues with the Venetian and here's why...
- Shoddy Materials - This place is made out of balsa-wood and Duct tape.
- Architecture - Nice try. The front area, instead of looking like beautiful Venice instead looks like a parking lot. Too much concrete!
- Service - These guys go out of their way to be snooty – is that what supposed 5-star service means?
- Focus - The focus here is on one thing: the bottom line. Great for investors, bad for guests. If they can save a buck, they will. I prefer places that put the guests first and understand that treating people right is always a good strategy.

I’ve just been hearing about the shoddy material stuff recently. I’ve also heard the furniture in the rooms is really cheap quality but built to “look fancy”. I don’t know why I’ve never played in this casino, I think the main reason is that it is a CONVENTIONEER PLAYLAND! People who read my posts on LVTalk might know I have no love for big convention crowds and I think the Venetian and Hilton are the two casinos that are pretty much dedicated to that crowd. - over 2 years ago by meyerfire
Don’t forget the terrible layout. Nothing seems to make sense along with the fact that its so dark and underground - over 2 years ago by YSinAppleton
I agree with the comments on the Venetian. We stayed there last October. Rooms are decent, and large, and I like the split bathroom. The help seem snooty to me too, and we did not win a penny on anything. Also, hate the layout of the casino floor. Glad to have stayed there once and experienced the place especially for 99.00 per night, but won’t probably stay there again. - over 2 years ago by BillyInLasVegas
Don’t forget crappy parking, and people pushing time shares inside. - over 2 years ago by meyerfire

Awwwww man.. we’re dissin’ the V?I stayed there twice and visit yearly and have no complaints except that it is too damn big and that I can’t afford to stay there unless I am with my uncle who is a VIP/high roller player there.
Other than that everyone that worked there was friendly to me from dealers, to pit bosses, to security, to waiters.
If I am not staying there I atleast stop by when I am in Vegas. I always eat at the Grande Lux Cafe and then get some Ice Cream at the Ice Cream shop located in the food court area off the casino floor.
I don’t see anything cheap on the way it is built. I stayed in the origional tower and in the second tower and everything was great.
As for parking… we never had to worry about that cause we never rent a car. My uncle always got free limo service to and from the airport courtesy of the Venetian since he was a VIP player. But from observation I can see if one had a car that it is a pain in the ass to get in and out of the Venetian because the enterance is usually a big traffic jam.
“Shoddy material” and “dark and underground”, it sounds like you are describing the Golden Spike. I think we are over exaggerating a bit. The Venetian I stayed at in Vegas was well lit (casino floor and hotel hall ways). The only dark areas I remember were the shopping areas, but hey the Forum Shops at C.P. are dark too haha. I never saw “shoddy material” or “duct tape”. The only mess I ever saw was when they were building another addition on to it when I was there last summer.
Sorry folks, I’m sticking with a good review for the V until I experience otherwise.

The fact that they had to tear down the Sands to build it. - over 2 years ago by eponymous coward
I like the restaurants (but I’m a sucker for good food) and the interior, and as far as confusing layout, the one time at Caesar’s I got totally lost a couple of times. (Their collection of towers isn’t particularly organic or well-laid out).As for snotty attitude…I was playing craps at Caesar’s at $15 and they raised the table to $25…and didn’t grandfather anyone in. Adios, amigos. Not playing there again.
I also tend to stay on the Venezia side (newer and more swank) so that colors my view…but I would pick the Venetian over MGM Grand or Caesar’s.

One of the worst places on the strip to get a taxi to or from. The rooms are big(ger), but the furnishings are uncomfortable and tacky. I had a HUGE double-suite one time, but most of it was just wasted space.
Casino layout is a disaster. Not an inviting place to play, and you gotta walk a mile to take a piss.
You want snotty? Check out the staff at TAO on a Friday night.

I got an invitation to stay at the Venetian for free and I took them up on the offer. I’m not really sure why I got an invite as I had only been in the place once before and that was for only an hour or so (lost a lot on Spanish 21). I guess I made their preffered losers list?I had no problems with the place at all. I was expecting to be asked to pay tax or something but the only thing I had to pay for was the internet access.
I agree it can be difficult to get around inside and I also didn’t do well at the table games. However, I didn’t see any cheap materials and the staff was very nice (except at Delmonico’s).
I’ll gladly stay there for free again…

From Kevin: “The overpowering “baby power” sent blasted throught the casino area. I am all for scents being pushed into casinos, TI and The Mirage both do this well. The Venetian however has taken this to an all time low. The baby powder scent reminds me of a baby changing station, and the scent is so overpowering, it makes me usually turn around and continue on to Wynn Las Vegas.” - about 1 year ago by vegasvic
Dude – the baby powder scent thing is absolutely true. I frequently hit the sports book, play some VP, and maybe grab a snack from the Noodle Shop next door. I was in a few weeks ago and the smell drove me out of the joint. I was sneezing like an allergy. Crazy.
